Press Release: V&A Illustration Awards
The V&A have announced that Sandra Rilova and James E. Ransome have been shortlisted in the Book Illustration category at this year’s V&A Illustration Awards. Rivola has been nominated for her beautiful duotone illustrations for Sophie’s World and Ransome has been included for his striking artwork for Kindred.
Tom Walker, Publishing Director at The Folio Society said: Kindred and Sophie’s World are both terrific examples of the standards Folio is working to. James Ransome and Sandra Rilova both took on the challenge of illustrating these titles with exceptional energy and skill, and their utter absorption is visible in every detail of the final books’.
The winner of each category receives £3,000 and the overall winner of the competition wins £5000 as well as being awarded with the Moira Gemmill Illustrator of the Year Prize.
